Intro 01:17
2.
Unwind 03:02
Everything has fallen off the edge Time to put together what is left In the end It all begins to unwind In the end It all begins to unwind Hopeful that the smoke will clear away Cynical and doubtful all the same In the end It all begins to unwind In the end It all begins to unwind In the end It all begins to unwind In the end It all begins to unwind I won’t let go I won’t let go I won’t let go I won’t let go
3.
God only knows where we’re going now God only knows how it all works out I keep on falling down the stairs all the time I keep on running until I find I wasn’t looking for the answers I wasn’t looking for the light Why do you always look away from the sky Why do you always run away from the fire You’ll never see me again this time You’ll never guess what they’re about to find Here they come, don’t make a sound, I can hear they’re searching now Here they come, don’t make a sound, I can hear they’re searching now
4.
You’d break your neck to see the sky this clearly As all the others float away I can’t remember being overwhelmed There’s always time to get away Cause we’ve fallen harder than this And we’ve counted up for hours It goes back and forth in colours It goes back and forth in colours As all the earth begins to rise again There’s only little time to breath Did you ever have anywhere to go I could’ve sworn you said you did before There’s always another time There’s always another place But we’re running out of ours And there’s nothing left to run for It goes back and forth in colours It goes back and forth in colours There’s nothing left here There’s nothing left here There’s nothing left here There’s nothing left here
5.
Interlude 02:02
6.
The silences are getting long The curtains falling off the wall There’s something still that’s holding on Someday soon it will be gone It all becomes what it should be It all decays it all breaks free It always finds a way to breath It all comes home, It all comes home It all comes home It all comes home It all comes home It all comes home It all comes home It all comes home It all comes home It all comes home

about

This EP is essentially an (maybe immature) attempt at maturing as quickly as possible in all possible musical areas - as a songwriter, singer, producer etc.

When I started this one out a few months ago, I had absolutely no idea what my music even sounded like anymore. Everything was in a limbo state. Despite a history of making Electronic Music, I had only just started recording myself singing, and had only just begun to bare the sound of my own voice. I also didn't know how to write melodies and lyrics to suit my voice. I didn't even have the name 'Dusk Chorus' yet. Naturally I had to develop myself before I could even come up with any material worth recording.

I ended up recording about 60 demos - all of varying depth (from not much depth to even less depth) - before I had songs I felt good about. Perhaps tellingly, most of the songs on this EP are actually some of the last few that I wrote during the development cycle I put myself through (they are on the former end of the aforementioned 'depth scale').

On this project I hoped to achieve the following things;

- Confront the fear of sharing music, particularly with my own lyrics/vocals.
- Figure out my own process of taking a song from start to finish.
- Find or at least come closer to finding some kind of unique 'voice' or 'identity' artistically.

I think I've managed to do at least the first two, the third ultimately takes time. I realise I shouldn't have to worry about finding that voice as long as I'm doing the right thing in the given moment, which is continuing to be creative and productive. There's a standard I want to reach in my music, and honestly I feel I've yet to reach it, but this project got me a lot closer.

Thank you for listening,
Jord.
